Welcome To Blue Lake Summer Camp Summer Camp Dates 2010: July 4th-24th & August 1st-21st! Registrations now being accepted!
We had an awesome summer in 2009 and are getting geared up for an even better summer this year! Summer Camp is split into 2 blocks- July 4th- 24th, and August 1st-21st. Programs are for children 7-14 years old.
Laughter in the trees, games in the field, singing around the campfire, learning about the wilderness and swimming with friends is what we are looking forward to! What are you excited for?
Most campers arrive on Sunday and leave on Saturday to ensure they don't miss a thing, but Blue Lake registers campers any day of the week. Different adventures and activities happen each day, including Ecofun, Campfires, Games (Capture the Flag!), Cabin Unity Time, and special programs depending on the day such as 'Adventure Squad' - the hike and out-trip on Wednesday, 'Kazaam' skit night on Thursday, and a special Blue Lake ceremony on Friday that you don't want to miss! Check out the Brochure or the Programs webpage for more information on Blue Lake's summer programs.
OYLS (Outdoor Youth Leadership Program): A program for youth aged 15-18 will run from July 11th- 17th, and August 8th- 14th. This program features a variety of wilderness backpacking and camping training followed by a two night hike into the mountains, a canoeing day trip, along with many opportunities for leadership development. This program will help participants to develop their leadership, communication and wilderness skills. There are only 14 spaces available for each week of this exciting program, so register early!
Leader in Training Program: This summer Blue Lake is again running a Leader in Training Program in conjunction with the Volunteer Jr. Counsellor position. In addition to staff training, all Jr. Counsellors will receive training and workshops in a variety of topics, including counselling techniques (behaviour management, working with different age groups, role modeling, program planning and facilitation, outdoor living skills, etc.), and a variety of different leadership training including teamwork, communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, organizational skills, and more. Jr. Counsellors are required to attend Staff Training, then can choose to volunteer for either Block #1 (July 4th- 24th), or Block #2 (August 1st-21st). Jr. Counsellor applications available now.
Camp Referall Program: If you refer a new camper to Blue Lake who has never attended before, you will receive a free Blue Lake t-shirt! Be sure to have your referred friend mention your name at the time of registration, and your t-shirt will be waiting for you at camp.
